As a dark art tattoo artist based in Amsterdam, I believe darkness isn’t the absence of light but it’s where truth lives, stripped of illusion. Raw. Honest. Real. That’s where my work begins.

I’m Rot_Priest. For over 11 years, I’ve been tattooing in the heart of Amsterdam, turning pain into power through custom tattoos rooted in symbolism, shadow, and intention. At my tattooshop, Knight of Swords, I specialize in dark art tattoos, portrait tattoos and custom lettering. Each piece designed to express what words can’t.

What Makes a Dark Art Tattoo Powerful?

Dark art tattoos aren’t just skulls and shadows. They’re a visual language for mourning, obsession, survival, rebellion, and transformation. They tell the stories people hide, through cracked statues, bleeding eyes, broken saints, or cursed words in ancient script. These tattoos aren’t decoration. They’re declarations. And for many, they are spiritual.

Why Skulls, Saints, and Script?

Skulls remind us what stays when everything else is stripped away. Saints are symbols of faith pushed to the edge. Phrases endure beyond trend they cut through time. In my work, these elements carry weight. They create a tattoo not just seen, but felt. In a world obsessed with perfection, I tattoo the fractured, the cursed, and the sacred.

Black and grey tattooing is the foundation of my style. Color shouts, but black and grey whispers directly to the bone. It lets me work with shadow, contrast, and skin tone to build atmosphere, emotion, and narrative. Every soft fade and sharp edge carries meaning. This is not neutral ink. This is storytelling.
